I turned the side of an abandoned house in my neighborhood into a giant chalkboard where residents can fill in the blank and remember what is important to them in life. It’s also about turning a neglected space into a constructive one where we can learn the hopes and aspirations of the people around us. It turns out this entire process has been a great lesson, experience, and project in itself – more on that later. If you’re in New Orleans, stop by the corner of Marigny and Burgundy (900 Marigny St) to add your thoughts to the wall and see what matters most to your neighbors. The responses and stories from passers-by while we were installing it have already hit me hard in the heart.

Heartbeats of Time by Trey Ratcliff
“I spend a lot of time thinking about the way memory and sight work together. I don’t think we remember in ‘pictures’ or long videos… but something in between. Perhaps we also sense, at times, more than 30 fps, and unexpected parts of the brain fire when we are presented with certain objects and forms.”

“bread pallete” is a project developed by japanese designer ryohei yoshiyuki. the idea is to spark people’s artistic sense by encouraging the experimentation of colors on slices of bread.

using condiments as paints and bread baked in the shape of paint palettes with a hole to insert your thumb, users are meant to mix and match colors and find elements of play in one’s ordinary, everyday activities.
